When a product causes you to suffer a serious injury it is critical that the item which caused the injury be preserved in the exact form it was in when the injury occurred. This is necessary as it gives the manufacturer of the product an opportunity to inspect it to make its own determination about what happened to cause the injury. If the manufacturer does not get to do such an inspection it may very well prevent the injured party from bringing, let alone winning, a law suit. Taking many photos of the product is also helpful. The wisest course of action, though, is to retain an experienced personal injury attorney as soon as possible after the accident happens. That way the attorney can do an immediate investigation and contact the manufacturer to be present at a formal inspection of the product thereby avoiding the problem should the product later be somehow changed or otherwise altered.
