Personal Injury Attorney Jeff Brody
Jeff Brody is a personal injury lawyer with offices in Kingston, NY and serving clients throughout New York State.
Jeff graduated from Brooklyn Law School in 1972. He received a B.S. Degree from Pratt Institute. He is admitted to the practice of law in both New York and Texas. While attending law school he was a mathematics teacher and department chairperson in a Brooklyn middle school. Upon his admission to practice law in New York, he became an associate in a New York City law firm. While at that firm, he served as assistant counsel for the New York State Joint Legislative Committee for the Recodification of the Election Law.
Mr. Brody then was chosen to be the Confidential Law Clerk for Supreme Justice Arthur Blyn in New York City. In that capacity, he drafted judicial decisions for the Court, held conferences with attorneys on behalf of the Court, and managed the judge’s calendar of cases.
In 1977, when Jeff relocated to upstate New York, he became associated with a prominent personal injury defense firm in Orange County. This gave him the opportunity to learn how personal injury defense lawyers work to attempt to defeat a person’s injury claim.
Jeff quickly realized that he was much more suited to helping the injured then defending the pockets of the insurance companies.
In 1981, he helped form a personal injury law firm, of which he was a partner. The firm grew to include four partners. It disbanded in 2007 when Jeff began his own firm in which he continues his dedication to helping injured people and their families. Jeff Brody Injury Law concentrates on medical malpractice and serious personal injury cases.
Jeff has worked hard to hone his skills both at achieving appropriate settlements for his clients and, when necessary, successfully taking the case to trial. In doing so, he has been able to win million dollar verdicts for his clients and has obtained million dollar settlements. He is particularly proud of his verdict against a hospital in Kingston, NY that had caused the death of a developmentally disabled man when it failed to properly read and report the results of an x-ray (Cramer v. Kingston Hospital). That suit was for over $1 million.
He has successfully litigated against defendants such as General Electric for failing to properly maintain an x-ray machine (Hoehing v. General Electric) and General Motors when a vehicle it owned hit and crushed his client’s leg. He obtained a jury verdict in the amount of $1,230,500 for a leg injury sustained when unloading a truck. Jeff also has an enviable record of high money recoveries in the many medical malpractice cases he has brought to conclusion.
As most recently as late 2014, Jeff successfully tried a medical malpractice case in Dutchess County, New York and achieved a verdict of 1.83 million dollars (Lee vs. Bollengier, M.D.)
Jeff lives in Shady, NY. In what little spare time Jeff has, one will find him bass fishing, and if not that then working on his car or adding some new landscaping to his family’s home.
